Description
Nyatta, a young anthropomorphic cat and Nyāko’s brother from Nekojiru’s manga, inhabits a world where humans and animal-human hybrids coexist—a reality that neither spares him from brutality nor tempers his unsettling mix of innocence and disturbing conduct. He observes or partakes in cruelty with detached curiosity, embodying a realm where carnivorous instincts collide with societal norms.

Largely nonverbal, Nyatta expresses himself through meows or borrowed phrases, echoing words like "stupid" from TV comedies. This sparse speech starkly contrasts his sudden acts of violence: assaulting a mole family or aiding in the slaughter of a sentient pig companion. Such events unfold with stark neutrality, mirroring the narrative’s blurred morality.

The surreal OVA propels him into a metaphysical quest after a near-drowning. Tasked with retrieving half of Nyāko’s soul from Jizō, a psychopomp figure, he traverses dreamlike trials—battling floods, a robotic foe, and entities warping reality. His relentless drive to restore his sister persists through these abstract encounters, yet his emotional detachment remains, anchoring even existential themes in his amoral perspective.

Nyatta’s origins lack elaboration, rooted in neglectful parents who foster an environment devoid of ethical guidance. This void fuels his casual acceptance of slaughtering sentient animals for food or destroying lives without remorse. His moral stasis persists across adaptations, reinforcing cycles of violence and futility.

His deceptively simple design—a small, cartoonish cat—belies the narrative’s dark undertones. Interactions with Nyāko underscore a sibling dynamic entwined with mutual enablement, whether through shared violence or indifference to consequences. Even in their OVA journey to reclaim her soul, their bond endures, unshaken by peril or surreal chaos.
