Description
Reimagining the Monkey Deity from *Journey to the West*, Son Gokuu becomes Patalliro du Malyner VIII, the ten-year-old monarch of Malynera. Sealed inside a mountain for five hundred years as punishment for wreaking havoc in Heaven—an act displaying his inherently mischievous and chaotic nature—he gained freedom when Buddha assigned him as disciple and protector to Genjou Sanzou, journeying to retrieve sacred Buddhist scriptures.

Retaining core traits from his Patalliro identity, he exhibits flashes of genius intellect alongside moments of thoughtless cruelty and unpredictability. When frustrated or embarrassed, he displays cat-like grooming behavior, a carryover from his royal role. His background includes being a diabetic prodigy ruling a diamond-rich kingdom, though unmentioned in this *Saiyuki* incarnation.

Throughout the westward journey, he battles monsters and engages in comedic or competitive scenarios like "bishounen contests." He travels alongside companions including the alcohol-loving Cho Hakkai (reinterpreting Pigsy), heavenly general Sagojyou (Sandy), and the Dragon Crown Prince Ryuuba, serving as their horse. His relationship with Sanzou involves protective duties and clashes fueled by his impulsive nature.

Available records detail no significant character evolution or backstory expansion beyond his initial setup. He consistently portrays a trickster figure combining aggression with whimsy, reflecting the original Sun Wukong legend’s core attributes. Elements from mainstream *Patalliro!* lore, such as his kingdom’s political conflicts or bodyguards the Tamanegi, do not feature in this adaptation.
