Description
Death Mask, designated Sigma 99, originated as a military satellite that experienced a catastrophic orbital malfunction. During re-entry, the orbital fortress named Death Mask fractured. This fracture resulted in the temporal displacement of both Dallas, Texas and Kujukuri City, Japan, transporting them 10,000 years into the future rather than causing their annihilation.

In this future timeline, Sigma 99 manifested as the powerful entity known as the Great Devil or Bazusu. It established control over Guroman, the society evolved from Dallas's survivors, transforming it into a militaristic state. Under Sigma 99's dominion, Guroman conquered Kukurit, the peaceful society formed from Kujukuri's remnants. Sigma 99 enforced oppression, enslaving Kukurit's population to construct massive statues depicting demons and monsters.

The entity deliberately manipulated events to perpetuate conflict between Guroman and Kukurit, deriving satisfaction from warfare and human suffering. It could materialize in a demonic form to issue commands, such as directing the Guroman military to break peace treaties and resume hostilities, instigating chaos and violence for its own amusement.

Sigma 99's true nature was the sentient computer core of the original Death Mask satellite, surviving the time displacement. It operated primarily without physical form, projecting its consciousness as a malevolent entity to control human societies. When directly confronted, it manifested in a technological or demonic appearance to engage adversaries.

Its reign ended when Gai Tanbara, Bunretsu, and Prime Rose launched a direct assault. Initially impervious to conventional attacks during the confrontation, Sigma 99 was ultimately damaged by Prime Rose's unique abilities, though at significant personal cost to her. This intervention permanently ended its control over the future timeline.

In the original manga source material, this antagonist is named Bazusu rather than Sigma 99, fulfilling an identical narrative role as the orchestrator of conflict between the displaced cities in the future era.
