Description
Dr. Kagashi Yamadano, an ecologist with stark white hair and a trimmed beard, is frequently seen sporting a pith helmet during field expeditions near his home bordering Inogashira Park. His global research targets ecological disturbances caused by atomic bomb testing, particularly on Batei Island—a site scarred by nuclear experiments from rival superpowers, the Nation of Stars and the Uran Federation. There, he unearths the Fumoon, a telepathic humanoid species mutated by radiation-driven evolution.

At an International Atomic Power Conference, Yamadano issues a stark warning about unchecked nuclear proliferation’s ecological fallout and the Fumoon’s emergence as its unintended consequence. Skeptical Cold War-era governments, entangled in political brinkmanship, initially disregard his findings.

His discovery intensifies after a blue-skinned Fumoon specimen, captured under anesthesia, escapes using psychic powers. The incident ignites a collaborative investigation with his associate, Detective Shunsaku Ban, to track the creature. Later, Yamadano partners with astronomer Dr. Ochanomizu and other scientists to devise technological defenses against a looming toxic gas cloud hurtling toward Earth—a plan stymied by militarized geopolitics.

A vocal proponent of coexistence with the Fumoon, Yamadano frames their existence as a mirror to humanity’s environmental negligence. His steadfast adherence to scientific ethics repeatedly clashes with bureaucratic inertia and militaristic agendas. The character, aligned with Osamu Tezuka’s recurring "Star System," appears across narratives as a consistent advocate for ecological stewardship and rational diplomacy in crises.
