Borodo is a thief known as the elder of the "Thief Brothers," partnered with his adoptive brother, Akisu. He discovered Akisu as an infant adrift at sea seven years before the main events and chose to raise him. Despite lacking blood ties, they considered each other true brothers. This bond drove Borodo to sacrifice his left arm to save Akisu, leading to his use of a prosthetic replacement. He typically wears an aviator uniform. Borodo exhibits a dual nature: deeply protective of Akisu while employing calculated deceit against others. He orchestrated the theft of the Straw Hat Pirates' ship, framing rival pirates to manipulate the crew into defeating the Trump Pirates, who controlled Clockwork Island. His goal was to steal the Diamond Clock from the Trump Siblings, believing Akisu originated from the island, possibly due to a music box found with the infant. Borodo sought a peaceful home for Akisu there. An expert navigator, Borodo skillfully maneuvered a raft using only a makeshift parachute-sail, demonstrating adept seamanship. Confronting the Trump Pirates' leader, Bear King, on Clockwork Island, Borodo strapped dynamite to himself. This plan failed when Bear King revealed detonation would destroy the island's structural key, endangering everyone. Overpowered, Borodo awaited defeat until the Straw Hats intervened. Following the Trump Pirates' downfall, Akisu reunited with his biological parents but opted to continue sailing with Borodo. They departed together, debating the division of loot acquired from the conflict, their thieving partnership intact. Notably, his name is an anadrome of the Japanese term for thief ("dorobō"), and he stands as the earliest cyborg depicted in any One Piece media, predating later canon characters with similar enhancements.
