Description
Genthru, known as the Bomber, acted as the primary antagonist in the Greed Island story arc. Hired by billionaire Battera to complete the game, he formed the Bombers group with teammates Sub and Bara. For five years, he infiltrated Nickes' player alliance while secretly operating as the Bomber, planting time bombs on every alliance member without their knowledge. This double life allowed him to manipulate the alliance while building his infamy as a mysterious threat.
Initially presenting a calm and cooperative demeanor, Genthru feigned concern over the Bomber's activities to gain trust. After the alliance collected 90 specified slot cards, he revealed his true identity and activated Countdown, his Nen ability, on every member. He killed Jispa immediately upon challenge and demanded all collected cards in exchange for disarmament—a promise he broke by remotely detonating the bombs alongside Sub and Bara, killing nearly the entire alliance. Only Abengane and Cuzco survived the massacre.
Genthru displayed a distinct duality: he lacked compassion for outsiders and derived pleasure from killing, yet showed genuine loyalty to Sub and Bara. He insisted on sharing risks equally with them, like using the Risky Dice, and negotiated for Bara's healing after his own defeat. Despite his usual composure, he became visibly unsettled when facing unpredictable opponents, particularly Gon's willingness to sustain severe injuries during their final battle.
Strategically, Genthru exploited game mechanics and loopholes to monopolize cards like Angel's Breath and Night Jade. He employed elaborate schemes, disguising captives as Sub and Bara during a trade with Tsezguerra's team and using Risky Dice alongside the Tax Collector's Gauntlet to steal cards. After accumulating 97 cards, he murdered Kazsule's alliance members and demanded Gon's team surrender the Plot of Beach card, prompting Gon to challenge him directly.
His Nen abilities centered on explosives. Little Flower generated localized explosions from his hands, protected by Kō to shield himself from backlash. Countdown implanted bombs via touch after stating "Bomber" and explaining his abilities; the bombs linked to the victim's heartbeat and detonated when Genthru, Sub, and Bara touched thumbs and said "Release." Countdown required Conjuration, Manipulation, and Transmutation, showcasing his advanced Nen proficiency. Abilities could only be nullified if someone touched him and declared, "I caught the Bomber"—a condition fulfilled by Abengane after Genthru's defeat.
Genthru's confrontation with Gon culminated in a battle where he destroyed Gon's hand, but Gon lured him into a pit trap and incapacitated him with a Jajanken attack. Following his loss, he surrendered his cards and requested healing for Bara. After Abengane exorcised his Nen abilities, Genthru disappeared from the narrative.
