Description
Kagamiyama, known as Sloan in English localizations, is a recurring character in the Medabots franchise. He is introduced as a member of The Screws, a trio of schoolyard rivals often led by Kikuhime. His primary role is as a secondary antagonist, consistently acting as a loyal supporter of Kikuhime's schemes and agendas, though he rarely serves as a primary mastermind.

Kagamiyama is most notably defined by his quiet and reserved demeanor. He does not talk much, but is considered friendly in nature. By far his most prominent and defining personality trait is an intense obsession with cleanliness and doing laundry, a characteristic that is more emphasized in his appearances in the video games than in the anime adaptations. He is consistently seen ensuring his clothes remain spotless, and this fixation often informs his actions and dialogue.

His motivations are largely tied to his loyalty to his leader, Kikuhime, whom he serves faithfully. He participates in her various plots to harass other students and steal valuable items, such as badges to a prestigious academy. Beyond following orders, his personal drive is less about grand ambition and more about maintaining a sense of order and hygiene. In some storylines, particularly in Medarot Damashii (Medabots Spirits), a deeper personal motivation emerges as he struggles with a crisis of confidence. After enduring a string of defeats, his partnership with his Medabot, Keithturtle (also known as Totalizer), becomes strained, culminating in Keithturtle leaving him to join a junkyard collective of discarded Medabots. This arc explores his need to prove his worth as a Medafighter.

As a Medafighter, Kagamiyama has a clear and consistent battle style. He favors Medabots that are slow-moving but exceptionally powerful and heavily armored, prioritizing raw defensive and offensive strength over speed. His primary partner is Keithturtle, a large, tortoise-like Medabot. Over the course of the series, he is also known to use other Medabots of a similar archetype, including Rickturtle, Brownbison, and two Bottomflash units.

Kagamiyama's role in the story varies between installments but always places him in opposition to the protagonist, Ikki. In Medarot 2, he is one of the first members of The Screws that Ikki must defeat, often blocking paths or guarding key areas. Later, in Medarot 3, he participates in more elaborate schemes, such as stealing academy badges, and he competes as a rival in tournaments like those in Medabots AX. In the anime, he is frequently seen as part of Kikuhime's entourage and even disguises himself as Space Medafighter X during the World Robattle Cup. His most significant narrative focus comes in Medabots Spirits, where his losing streak and subsequent personal journey to find his lost Medabot form a notable character-driven subplot.

His key relationships are central to his identity. His unwavering loyalty to his boss, Kikuhime, is his primary link to the main plot, as he and his fellow Screws member, Iwanoi (Spyke), act as her muscle and support. The relationship with his own Medabot, Keithturtle, is also critical, as their partnership experiences significant turmoil in later stories, highlighting a dependency that goes beyond simple ownership. Despite his loyalty to the antagonist group, he is not portrayed as malicious but rather as a dutiful follower whose quirks and devotion to cleanliness give him a distinct, memorable presence. The name Kagamiyama itself is derived from a Japanese sake brand, blending the imagery of a barrelhead with that of a mountain. His given name has not been officially confirmed.
