Description
Deathsaurus, also called Deszaras, rose to become the Decepticon Emperor of Destruction after Overlord's defeat. His origins stretch back 500,000 years, marked by the construction of a planet-destroying fortress intended to secure his leadership. The young Autobot commander Star Saber disabled this fortress and trapped it within the Dark Nebula, forging a bitter, lasting enmity between them. Reclaiming the fortress and destroying Star Saber became Deathsaurus's driving ambition across multiple continuities.
Commanding forces such as the Breastforce and Dinoforce from the Decepticon Space City or the Thunder Arrow starship, Deathsaurus employs a hands-off leadership style. He permits subordinates like Leozack and Hellbat to execute energy-gathering schemes on Earth while he observes. Yet, he brutally enforces loyalty when challenged, physically overpowering Leozack for treachery to force his submission. Despite his cruelty and general disdain for humanity, he harbors an unexpected fondness for human children.
Physically, Deathsaurus towers at combiner-scale height and transforms into a dragon-like creature. His bladed wings absorb sunlight to fuel dark-energy attacks. He wields signature weapons including a spiked flail, a sword, and the Living-Metal-Destroying Cannon, which corrodes Cybertronian cells. As a Breastforce warrior, his chest plates detach to form the Tigerbreast and Eaglebreast partners, functioning as beasts, handheld weapons, or armor.
In the *Victory* anime, Deathsaurus's campaign focuses on draining Earth's energy to reactivate his fortress. After abandoning the Dinoforce on Earth, he nearly succeeds in destroying the planet. Star Saber's adopted son, however, exploits a weakness revealed by the betrayed Dinoforce. Their final battle culminates in Deathsaurus losing an eye and being impaled by Star Saber's broken sword. Critically wounded, he sets the fortress on a collision course with Earth before ejecting into space; his lifeless body drifts away.
The *Victory* manga adaptation diverges significantly. Here, Deathsaurus has a human adoptive son, Solon Kitakaze, whom he converted into a cyborg. He crafts the King Solon mecha to combine into King Zaras for increased power. The fortress is also revealed to house Decepticon civilians, including Deathsaurus's wife Esmeryl and Leozack's sister Lyzack. After Leozack's betrayal is thwarted, Deathsaurus brokers peace with the Autobots to protect these non-combatants, shaking hands with Star Saber to end the conflict.
