Description
Wilder started as a human juvenile delinquent who co-founded the Jack Boys motorcycle gang with Chris. After the rival Cool Guys defeated the Jack Boys, causing their dissolution, a disillusioned Wilder joined the Decepticons under Devil Z, seeking societal revenge. He embraced this path, believing he had sold his soul for power.
As a Decepticon Headmaster Junior, Wilder bonded with a Transtector from Planet Master, transforming into a winged, bipedal wolf-monster. This granted him significant combat abilities and fueled his sense of superiority over ordinary humans. His actions consistently reflected cruelty and self-interest, epitomized by kicking a dog to death during battle and violently attacking his former friend Chris for refusing to rejoin the rebuilt Jack Boys – slamming Chris into a rock wall and beating him until he bled. Wilder operated solely under the philosophy of being "only out for Wilder."
Throughout the conflict, he participated in numerous Decepticon operations with fellow Headmaster Juniors Bullhorn and Cancer. These included early city attacks using Seacon allies, subjugating the Cool Guys as lackeys, and later missions to locate potential Godmasters. His efforts often ended in defeat: failed ambushes against the Autobot Godmaster Ginrai, unsuccessful attempts to recruit retired French racer Germain, and a thwarted theft of Ranger's Transtector in the Rocky Mountains. During a mission to burn American food storehouses, he and Bullhorn mocked Cancer over his infatuation with the Autobot Minerva.
Wilder displayed occasional friction with other Decepticons. He retreated from a battle with Ginrai when Decepticon Godmasters Buster and Hydra indiscriminately dropped depth charges endangering him. Later, he dismissed Bullhorn's concerns about Devil Z's plan to exterminate humanity, stating he cared little for human lives since becoming a Headmaster Junior. His loyalty wavered significantly when Devil Z and BlackZarak fused during an Autobot base attack, collapsing the base and abandoning Wilder and his fellow Juniors. Refusing to believe this betrayal, he attacked the Autobots attempting rescue, requiring Ginrai to subdue him.
Following this, Wilder and Bullhorn rejected Cancer's decision to join the Autobots and departed. However, they later returned unexpectedly to aid Cancer when he and the Autobot Juniors were overwhelmed in battle, demonstrating residual loyalty. After Devil Z's defeat, Wilder was permanently separated from his Transtector. The Transtector gained independent life through Masterforce energy, adopting Wilder's personality and rejoining the Decepticons. This robotic Wilder departed Earth with other Decepticon Transtectors to continue the war in space.
In other media, the robotic Wilder appeared briefly in a Kre-O comic, observing a golden effigy of Megatron's head. Within the 2005 IDW continuity, Wilder and his fellow former Juniors plotted to steal from Starscream post-war but were killed by Sandstorm for their past crimes.
