Description
Buster originated in East Germany, working as a deejay before Decepticon agents recruited him alongside his older brother, Hydra. He possesses no distinct personality, functioning solely as an extension of Hydra's will, often appearing vaguely creepy in his unwavering obedience. Buster follows Hydra's lead in combat and seeks his direction in all matters, exhibiting less cruelty and detachment than his sociopathic brother, yet remains a fearsome fighter with significant power.
As a Godmaster, Buster bonds with a lifeless Transtector body from the G Nebula that transforms into an F-16 Fighting Falcon jet. He can combine his Transtector with Hydra's to form the giant jet Darkwings. Buster manipulates Chōkon Power, specializing in wind control, and demonstrates an affinity for birds, owning several and communicating his thoughts to them.
Giga and Mega approached Buster and Hydra in North America, bonding them to their Transtectors. They proved their prowess by defeating Decepticon Pretenders and Headmaster Juniors during training. Early missions, like attacking a hang gliding competition, saw them battle Autobots before retreating when outnumbered. During an assault on a tidal power plant, the Autobot Diver wounded Buster with his Sea Axe; the wound failed to heal around the embedded weapon, causing significant pain and panic, leading Buster to question his strength compared to Hydra.
The brothers frequently clashed with the Autobot Godmaster Ginrai. They attacked his trucker friends and fought him in multiple battles, including one where Buster held off other Autobots while Hydra engaged Ginrai. Buster once seized the Autobot Minerva and threatened her, but the Decepticon Cancer disrupted their plan. After repeated defeats, they tried discrediting Ginrai by framing him for a city battle and summoning Seacons, whom Ginrai repelled. They menaced a television producer for information on other Godmasters and participated in missions to recruit or eliminate them, such as targeting the Canadian forest patrolman Ranger. These efforts often ended in failure and injury, including Buster having his arm torn off.
Buster and Hydra devised schemes like capturing Lightfoot's father, Leftfoot, to force Lightfoot's defection. When this failed, they lured Ginrai into the desert and planted explosives on his trailer. Though they separated Ginrai from his trailer, he reclaimed it and defeated them. They later attempted to destroy the Autobots' Godbomber drone but were misled into attacking the Autobot Road King, resulting in another defeat. During a final assault on the Autobot base, Buster fought Lightfoot in northern Europe and participated in the climactic battle at the Decepticon base.
Frustrated by their inability to defeat Ginrai, Buster demanded to know why they kept failing. Hydra theorized their humanity weakened them, prompting both to petition Devil Z to transform them into true robots. Devil Z fused them permanently with their Transtectors, replacing their human components with mechanical ones. This process stripped them of their humanity, aligning them fully with Devil Z's cause, marking the end of Buster's human existence as he became a purely robotic entity under Devil Z's control.
