Description
Gigastorm is the upgraded form of Megastorm, formerly the Duke of Destruction and younger brother to the Predacon leader Galvatron. Originally Galvatron's second-in-command, Megastorm harbored ambitions to usurp his brother but often hesitated due to Galvatron's intimidating presence and their familial bond. He transformed into a tank and wielded a powerful Mega-Cannon, though its lengthy charging time frequently compromised its effectiveness. Megastorm's personality was characterized by secret disloyalty, pragmatic caution regarding Galvatron's grandiose Angolmois Energy plans, and occasional overt treachery, including an attempt to dispose of Galvatron by dropping him into a well of raw Angolmois Energy.
Exposure to raw Angolmois Energy reformatted Megastorm into Gigastorm, earning him the title Arch-Duke of Destruction. This transformation caused significant physical and psychological changes. Gigastorm gained a triple-changing mechanical form, defaulting to a massive robotic Ceratosaurus-like dinosaur. This form could reconfigure into a fortified "Huge Base Mode" or an "Attack Fortress Mode." He retained the Gigascouter drone, a redeco of the Decepticon Full-Tilt, as an auxiliary unit. Psychologically, Gigastorm exhibited heightened confidence and assertiveness, openly challenging Galvatron's decisions and authority. His loyalty diminished to the extent that he scarcely regarded Galvatron as his brother, creating palpable tension within the Predacon ranks.
In *Beast Wars II: Lio Convoy's Close Call!*, Gigastorm participated in the Predacons' exploitation of a crashed teleport gate device. He recommended destroying the alien spacecraft housing the device but deferred to Galvatron's interest in harnessing its capabilities. He later activated the teleport gate intending to summon the Predacon leader Megatron from the past, but a miscalibration summoned the colossal Decepticon Majin Zarak instead. Gigastorm supported Galvatron's command of Zarak, transforming the giant into an aircraft carrier mode for an assault on the Maximals. During the battle, he confronted Lio Convoy directly but was defeated. Despite this setback, he later rescued Galvatron after the latter was ejected from Zarak, reaffirming a tactical alliance.
Gigastorm possesses immense physical strength, endurance, and firepower, rated at maximum levels. His signature weapon is the diamond-hard Gigahorn mounted on his dinosaur head, capable of piercing virtually any material. His triple-changing abilities provide strategic versatility in assault and defense. His influence extended beyond direct combat; he conducted Angolmois Energy transfusions on Predacons Dirge and Thrust, reformatting them into enhanced warriors Dirgegun and Thrustor.
Elsewhere, the "Gigastorm Armor" appears in the *Shattered Glass* universe as a separate entity. This armor, a fusion of alien technology and Decepticon science, is piloted by Megatron as a flying fortress. This incarnation bears no direct relation to the Gigastorm from the Beast Wars II narrative.
