Description
Onslaught commands the Combaticons, Decepticons capable of merging into the powerful Bruticus. He favors strategic planning and battlefield coordination over direct combat, though he possesses significant fighting prowess when required. His tactical expertise dictates his approach, often positioning himself to oversee operations while directing his team to achieve objectives.

Originally part of a renegade Decepticon faction imprisoned on Cybertron for plotting against Megatron, Onslaught gained freedom when Starscream reformatted their personalities into Earth-based military vehicles, establishing the Combaticons as a distinct unit. Initially resisting Starscream's leadership, Onslaught and his team reluctantly cooperated after discovering Starscream withheld their essential energy absorbers. Their alliance targeted Megatron's overthrow but ended in defeat and banishment to an asteroid.

Following reprogramming by Megatron, Onslaught and the Combaticons operated as loyal Decepticon soldiers. They executed missions like diverting Autobot energon transports and assaulting key Autobot facilities, frequently combining into Bruticus to overwhelm adversaries. Despite tactical successes, their efforts often faced setbacks from external interference or operational errors.

During the *Scramble City* conflict, Onslaught led the Combaticons under Megatron's orders to disrupt Autobot construction of the mobile fortress Metroplex. After initial attacks by Devastator and Menasor faltered, the Combaticons arrived as Bruticus to reinforce the assault, shifting the battle against Autobot combiners Superion and later Defensor. Bruticus proved instrumental in overpowering Superion, but their advance halted when Metroplex activated and repelled the Decepticon forces, culminating in the unresolved emergence of Trypticon.

Beyond *Scramble City*, Onslaught featured in other continuities. Marvel Comics depicted him leading operations against Autobots and humans, including attempts to assassinate Galvatron and thwart the Protectobots. Dreamwave comics portrayed him as a war criminal imprisoned before Starscream repurposed him for combat missions, often encountering mixed results due to team coordination issues. IDW comics presented him as a ruthless tactician during raids on Autobot installations.

His characterization remained consistent: a calculating commander prioritizing precise strategy but retaining a capacity for brute-force retaliation when plans failed. This duality extended to his leadership of Bruticus, whose combined form exhibited diminished intelligence compared to Onslaught's individual capabilities.
