Berenice Gabrielli is a Quincy member of the Wandenreich's Sternritter, holding the Schrift "Q" for "The Question." He possesses a relatively slender build with youthful characteristics and multicolored hair: predominantly short pink with a longer, purple section in the right side of his bangs. His attire is a modified Sternritter uniform featuring a white hooded cloak, trench coat, and a bolo tie. Each fingernail is painted with a dark diagonal line. He participated in the Quincy invasion of Soul Society under Yhwach's command, joining fellow Sternritter at the Gate of the Sun before advancing to the Seireitei. During the initial assault, Berenice contributed to creating pillars of blue flame. Later, he confronted 11th Division Captain Kenpachi Zaraki alongside Sternritter Loyd Lloyd and Jerome Guizbatt. According to Kenpachi, Berenice was extremely talkative, even in combat, explaining his Schrift ability at length. This talkativeness proved fatal; Kenpachi tore out his throat before he could fully deploy his power. Kenpachi subsequently carried Berenice's corpse and presented it before Yhwach. Berenice's Schrift, "The Question," allowed him to compel opponents to question everything about themselves, including their abilities and worth, potentially inducing crippling self-doubt or regret. The ability required audible speech and failed against targets who could not hear him clearly. Kenpachi's deafened state from Jerome Guizbatt's roars negated the Schrift's effectiveness during their encounter. As a Quincy, Berenice wielded standard abilities like Reishi manipulation to form spirit-based weapons, enhanced in Reishi-rich environments such as Soul Society. He also possessed Blut techniques for augmenting offense or defense and Ransōtengai for bodily control via spirit strings. His spiritual power exceeded or matched that of captain-level Shinigami. Official media consistently identifies Berenice as male, reinforced by his use of the masculine pronoun "boku" in Japanese dialogue and casting of male voice actors. Early debate about his gender due to androgynous design traits was resolved by secondary sources and creator-endorsed materials. Berenice's narrative presence is confined to the Thousand-Year Blood War arc in the manga and its anime adaptation.
