Description
An amnesiac orphan known initially as "No-Name" or Triton Bloom, Trowa Barton's origins trace to a conflict that destroyed his family's traveling circus, killing his parents and separating him from his sister Catherine Bloom. Head trauma erased his early memories. Growing up without a past, he became a mercenary and later joined the Barton Foundation as a mechanic for Gundam Heavyarms.
He witnessed the assassination of Dekim Barton's son, the original Trowa Barton, by a technician who opposed Dekim's genocidal "Operation Meteor" plan involving colony drops on Earth. The amnesiac mechanic volunteered to assume the deceased pilot's name and role, piloting Heavyarms to participate in the revised Operation Meteor targeting only military forces.
Operating undercover as a circus clown while piloting the Gundam, he unknowingly reunited with Catherine. His stoic, analytical demeanor concealed deep loyalty, particularly to Quatre Raberba Winner. Key actions included recovering Heero Yuy after Wing Gundam's self-destruction, infiltrating OZ to pilot the Vayeate mobile suit, and surviving the Vayeate's destruction by Quatre's Wing Zero – an event causing temporary amnesia. Catherine protected him until he regained his memories defending the circus while piloting Wing Zero.
During the events of Endless Waltz, he initially sent the Heavyarms Custom for disposal but instead infiltrated the Mariemaia Army led by Dekim Barton and Treize Khushrenada's daughter. Exposed, he feigned allegiance after Dekim spared him and aided Duo Maxwell's escape during combat. He later piloted Heavyarms Custom to disable enemy Serpents in Brussels until depleting his ammunition, contributing to thwarting Dekim's revived Operation Meteor colony drop. Post-conflict, he permanently adopted the Trowa Barton name and returned to the circus with Catherine.
Later, in the Frozen Teardrop era (MC-0021), he worked as "Doktor T" alongside Instructor W, developing mobile suits. When questioned by Trowa Phobos, he confirmed the "T" represented "Triton," acknowledging his original identity.
His journey demonstrated exceptional infiltration skills, emotional control, tactical acumen in mobile suit combat, and a protective bond with animals. His recurring symbolic association with masks reflected both concealed emotions and assumed identities.
