Description
Toryune, a member of the Saanan species discovered by humans on Planet GO 7498 in the mid-26th century, possesses dark skin and golden eyes. He stands as the first publicly confirmed extraterrestrial. His creators, the ancient precursor race known as the Al Caral who once dominated the galaxy, vanished long ago.
He shares a symbiotic relationship with a reptile-like creature, a partnership essential to Saanan existence. Genetic analysis reveals significant similarities between his DNA and human DNA, suggesting potential shared ancestry or engineered origins.
Captured by the Hartz Bougen Corporation, Toryune is imprisoned on their space station for study. During captivity, he communicates with Dr. Hanagi, revealing the Saanan's origins and the Al Caral's role. When HBC scientists discuss vivisecting him, Toryune unconsciously activates potent psi powers, causing the scientists to commit suicide, demonstrating his species' latent psychic ability to trigger self-destructive impulses in humans.
Transferred to HBC headquarters under orders, Toryune briefly escapes during transit. In this moment of freedom, he encounters Shana T., a human clone of the Al Caral created by HBC. He immediately recognizes and declares her true identity as one of the Al Caral.
Later, during a rescue attempt by Shana T. and her allies, Toryune suffers fatal injuries; the humanoid portion of his body is killed, leaving only the reptilian symbiote surviving. This event catalyzes Shana T.'s awakening of her own Al Caral powers. Following his death, the symbiote is taken to be returned to Planet GO 7498.
His narrative remains confined to these events within a single OVA installment. The Saanan's pastoral society on Planet GO 7498 is later shown observing human interactions, though Toryune does not appear. His character arc concludes with the unresolved nature of his species' relationship with the Al Caral and the incomplete exploration of the Saanan's capabilities, as no subsequent stories expand on his personal history or species' backstory beyond the OVA. His existence primarily reveals the Al Caral's legacy and triggers Shana T.'s transformation.
