Dr. R. Hanagi, an alien biology specialist, arrives at the Hartz Bougen Corporation (HBC) space station orbiting Planet Go 7498. He accepts an invitation to study Toryune, the first publicly confirmed alien life form, a humanoid. Discovering Toryune held captive under unethical conditions sparks immediate distress and moral conflict in Hanagi.

During his examination, HBC scientists announce their intent to vivisect Toryune. In response, Toryune's latent psi powers trigger the scientists' mass suicide, deepening Hanagi's unease about HBC's methods and goals.

Station commander Zach Isedo, son of HBC's head, subsequently reveals critical information to Dr. Hanagi: Isedo founded HBC, and Shana T. – a young woman involved in the conflict against HBC – is revealed as Isedo's mother, implying complex genetic engineering or cloning by the corporation. This revelation occurs as Isedo prepares to initiate first contact with the Saanan species on Planet Go 7498.

Hanagi's arc concludes observing Isedo depart for the planetary surface to meet the Saanan. He serves as a witness to HBC's downfall and the transition towards interspecies diplomacy, his actions consistently reflecting a humane perspective amidst corporate exploitation and ethical transgressions.
