Description
Ike Lord British, crown prince of Latis, first appears discussing a Moai-shaped monolith orbiting his planet with two pilots. Upon returning to Latis, advisors inform him of an identical monolith unearthed during an excavation. Against the warnings of advisor Doromo concerning the "Prophecy of Fire," he orders its removal. The monolith breaks during extraction, causing the orbiting counterpart to shatter.
Shortly after, the planetoid Salamander approaches and attacks Latis. Lord British appears uncertain how to counter the threat. Doromo secures aid from Gradius, which dispatches pilots Dan, Stephanie, and Eddie. Distrustful of them, particularly due to Eddie's investigation into his family, Lord British disregards their advice and sends an untrained fighter squad against the invaders. The squad is annihilated. Stephanie slaps him; she and Dan prepare to fight alone. Lord British apologizes and joins the battle in his personal space fighter. Eddie later sacrifices himself to create an opening, enabling Lord British to destroy the planetoid's core and save Latis. After the battle, he honors Dan and Stephanie and declares Eddie a hero of Latis.
Later, Lord British signs a peace treaty with Gradius and attempts to propose to Stephanie. She is kidnapped by Paula and taken into the Bacterians' artificial sun for brain implantation into Gofer. While Gradius forces distract the Bacterian fleet, Lord British and Dan infiltrate the sun to rescue her. Paula fuses with Gofer, transforming into a Phoenix. During the battle, Lord British hands control of his craft to Stephanie, who fights alongside Dan to defeat the Phoenix. Afterward, he relinquishes his romantic pursuit of Stephanie and bids farewell to the heroes before returning to Latis with his advisors.
His character begins as arrogant and stubborn, distrusting external help. The failure of his fighter squad and Stephanie's confrontation lead him to acknowledge his errors. He learns to trust others, setting aside his ego for his planet. His actions during the rescue mission and final battle demonstrate his evolved leadership, including delegating control to Stephanie. Following the conflicts, he focuses on diplomatic relations with Gradius and honors the contributions of allies.
