Miyako Negishi, nicknamed Neko, is a university literature major endowed with telekinetic ESP abilities that set her apart, leading to social isolation. Her traumatic past involves accidentally causing her mother's death during a childhood demonstration of her powers, resulting in lasting guilt and emotional distance from peers. This fuels her reserved personality and reluctance to form connections outside her small circle of fellow espers.

Neko shares a close friendship with teleporter Haruka Saiki and later includes classmate Keiichirou Yamagishi, a shapeshifter capable of becoming a lion. During a full moon meeting, the trio is transported through a dimensional rift into a medieval fantasy world. There, Neko is identified as the reincarnation of Princess Neryulla, a prophesied warrior queen destined to liberate the oppressed Middle Kingdom from the Western Kingdom's tyranny. Initially skeptical, she gradually accepts this role, motivated by a newfound sense of purpose and belonging.

Her leadership development involves uniting rebel forces, including forming an alliance with warrior princess Dimida after a duel. Neko's strategic decisions during the rebellion demonstrate her growing confidence and commitment. Throughout this journey, she navigates complex dynamics, resisting Haruka's flirtatious advances while acknowledging their deepening bond. Intermittent connections to her original world surface during reflective moments, underscored by mundane habits like smoking a cigarette.

The revelation that the antagonist orchestrated her summoning out of boredom does not diminish her resolve. Neko's character arc culminates in her embrace of the Neryulla identity, symbolizing her transition from an isolated outsider to a dedicated leader willing to sacrifice for others' freedom.
