Description
Kouji Jimi, better known as Punkuro, is the fourth member of the Dash Warriors racing team. He shares a deep childhood friendship with teammate Shinkuro Minami, predating their team involvement. Without his distinctive makeup, Kouji appears timid and reserved. Applying makeup triggers a transformation into a more assertive, rock-influenced persona, consistently seen carrying a guitar.
He began his Mini 4WD career piloting the **Super Dragon Jr.**, later upgrading to the **Dash-4 Cannonball**. This car utilizes a specialized condenser circuitry system designed for a single, powerful burst of electricity to the motor per race, significantly boosting performance. However, this surge typically destroys the motor afterward. Later in the original manga storyline, this machine evolved into the **Cannonball Weil**.
During the sequel series *Hyper Dash! Yonkuro*, he initially continued with the Dash-4 Cannonball before transitioning to the **Cannon Dead Ball**. This model features small thrusters on the bodyshell, functioning like bladeless fans. A critical engineering challenge arose as the central fan required sustained high motor RPMs, clashing with drivetrain needs, especially uphill. Punkuro resolved this by integrating a specialized gear-change system to maintain constant high motor speeds regardless of terrain.
Beyond racing, Punkuro demonstrates loyalty and occasional defiance, notably making an obscene gesture towards thugs attempting to sabotage Shinkuro's circuit. Fundamentally kind-hearted, his rocker alter ego exhibits greater confidence and willingness for confrontation. This persona continued into the sequel as an integral member of the reunited team, now called the Hyper Dash Warriors.
A middle-school student despite appearances, Punkuro possesses significant technical expertise, evident in his modifications to overcome the Cannon Dead Ball's constraints. Interactions primarily focus on Shinkuro and team dynamics. His development centers on maintaining his dual identity while advancing technical capabilities in competitive racing.
