Description
Jagi, the third of four adopted Hokuto brothers, trained in Hokuto Shinken under Ryuken alongside Raoh, Toki, and Kenshiro. He originated from the Land of Shura, becoming Ryuken's first orphan after his parents died in a fire. Ryuken initially withheld training from him, breeding deep-seated resentment when additional brothers joined. Jagi harbored intense jealousy toward Kenshiro after Kenshiro was named Hokuto Shinken's successor, cementing his belief that younger brothers should never surpass elders and fueling his lifelong vendetta.

After challenging Kenshiro for the successor title and failing, Jagi attempted murder but was defeated, sustaining severe facial disfigurement. He concealed his injuries with a metal helmet and facial plating to manage pain and hide his appearance. This deformity and wounded pride amplified his paranoia and violence, leading him to murder his own followers in fits of rage. To exact revenge, he manipulated Shin of the Nanto Koshū Ken school by exploiting Shin's secret love for Yuria, Kenshiro's fiancée, turning Shin against Kenshiro. This resulted in Shin defeating Kenshiro and kidnapping Yuria.

Jagi later scarred his chest to replicate Kenshiro's seven-star pattern, impersonating him while terrorizing villages. He murdered the parents of Rei, a key Kenshiro ally, and kidnapped Rei's sister Airi, selling her into slavery to tarnish Kenshiro's reputation. As a gang leader, he relied on underhanded tactics like firearms and poisoned needles, embodying his "victory at any cost" philosophy. His fighting style incorporated elements of Nanto Seiken, though Kenshiro dismissed it as inferior and disrespectful to Shin's legacy.

In their final confrontation atop Jagi's hideout, Kenshiro defeated him. Before dying, Jagi revealed his manipulation of Shin and taunted Kenshiro about Raoh and Toki's survival. Kenshiro delivered five fatal strikes—four symbolizing Jagi's victims (Shin, Yuria, Mako, Aki) and one for his personal rage—causing Jagi's explosive obliteration. Spin-off media like *Jagi Gaiden* depict his early resentment toward Raoh and Toki's adoption, prompting him to flee the Hokuto temple temporarily. He joined a biker gang before returning with Ryuken's permission to train independently. In the 1986 movie adaptation, Jagi followed Raoh's order to dispose of Kenshiro's body after Shin's attack and later enslaved Airi until Kenshiro intervened.

Jagi remains the only Hokuto brother not descended from the Hokuto Sōke bloodline and the only one without romantic interest in Yuria. His character draws loose inspiration from Lord Humungus in *Mad Max 2*, and his name derives from "jaki" (邪鬼), meaning "evil spirit" in Japanese folklore.
