TV-Series
Description
Scarabeth holds the rank of Giant Insect General within the Mycenae Empire's military, commanding the Insect Warrior Beasts. His design presents a biomechanical rhinoceros beetle form, featuring a distinct human face embedded in his chest as his true visage.
In the original *Great Mazinger* television series, Scarabeth operates collaboratively and with discipline, willingly cooperating with other Mycenae generals despite interpersonal friction. He maintains composure during setbacks, accepts responsibility for defeats without protest, and adheres strictly to the chain of command under the Great General of Darkness and later the Great Marshall of Hell. As a strategist, he executes missions with ruthless efficiency using minimal resources. He wields a sword in combat and meets his end during the destruction of the fortress Demonika in the final battle.
The 2003 OVA *Mazinkaiser: Deathmatch! Ankoku Daishogun* depicts Scarabeth with significant differences. His armor appears recolored black and green, sporting more insectoid limbs and functional wings enabling flight. His personality shifts toward recklessness and battle-hunger; he frequently underestimates opponents and engages without support. His combat abilities replace swordplay with silk-spitting from his head, producing strands stronger than steel. During the Mycenae invasion of New York, he partners with General Angoras to attack Great Mazinger. After initially gaining the upper hand, he is bisected by Great Mazinger's Great Boomerang and Great Typhoon combination, leading to his destruction.
Scarabeth also appears in other media as a supporting antagonist. In the *Super Robot Wars* video game series, he appears as a combatant aligned with the Mycenae forces. His role across all continuities remains consistent as a high-ranking military commander specializing in insectoid biomechanical forces.
