Sho Tachibana is the daughter of Dr. Tachibana and younger sister of Shinichi Tachibana, sharing an exceptionally close, near-psychic bond that lets her sense his presence across distances. This connection becomes crucial when Shinichi falls under enemy control. Following his death in an early Metal Beast attack, Sho channels grief into fierce determination to combat threats. She becomes the primary pilot for the Getter Robo Go project, developed by the Tachibana Institute and NISAR, initially operating Getter Machine 2. Her skills extend beyond piloting; she demonstrates high proficiency in Iaido, wielding a sword capable of cutting through steel beams and cyborgs.

As part of the new Getter Team alongside Go Ichimonji and Gai Daido, Sho initially clashes with Go's reckless attitude. She gradually acknowledges her teammates' abilities, forming strong working relationships. Her bravery and diligence significantly impact Schwartz Koff, an American pilot harboring initial prejudices against Japanese people and women. Sho earns his respect and affection, notably saving his life during a base attack.

After the Getter Robo is severely damaged battling the Dragon Turtle fortress and her brainwashed brother, Sho helps defeat Shinichi, freeing him momentarily before his death. With the Getter inoperable and Schwartz needing a co-pilot due to his partner's injury, Sho remains with the US Army. She transitions to piloting bomber jets alongside Schwartz, participating in the final conflict against the Dinosaur Empire, marking a shift from her revenge-driven path to a broader military role.

Years later, during the conflict with the Andromeda Stellaration, Sho holds a leadership position within the Allied Forces, coordinating defense efforts against the extraterrestrial threat. She works alongside former allies like Schwartz, now an admiral, demonstrating her continued commitment to protecting humanity in a strategic command capacity.
