TV-Series
Description
Hyouma Aoi leads the Battle Team defending Earth against the Campbellian invasion. Orphaned and raised at Sun Academy (Sun Place), this background fuels a fiercely protective nature, especially toward children and fellow orphans, making threats against them a profound berserk button.

Physically, he is a tall young man with reddish-brown spiky hair and eyes, possessing a well-shaped physique. His standard attire is a red bodysuit with dark-brown sleeves, a blue belt buckle, white boots, white gloves, and a prominent yellow "V" emblem on the torso. He pilots the Battle Jet, forming the head of the super-electromagnetic robot Combattler V.

Hyouma burns with a passionate, hot-blooded, and impulsive personality, often showing impatience under pressure. Despite this, he demonstrates responsibility, selflessness, and emotional understanding. He prioritizes the safety of teammates and civilians over tactical goals, leading with a strong emphasis on justice and moral integrity, which drives him to confront allies like Sandrat over perceived laziness. An enthusiasm for high-speed activities defines him as an avid motorcyclist, sometimes leading to reckless driving.

Key relationships shape his journey. He shares a close bond with teammate Chizuru Nanbara, granddaughter of Combattler V's creator. Their mutual orphan experiences foster deep empathy, and Chizuru's concealed heart condition intensifies Hyouma's protective instincts. Their relationship evolves from camaraderie into romantic commitment by the series' end. His dynamic with antagonist Garuda shifts from adversarial conflict to mutual respect, with Garuda eventually acknowledging Hyouma as a worthy opponent.

A critical physical transformation occurs when Garuda destroys Hyouma's arms in combat. He receives cybernetic replacements, which intermittently malfunction during critical moments like piloting. Despite the resulting disabilities and pain, he persists in missions. These artificial limbs do not enhance his strength and can hinder his capabilities.

Throughout the conflict against the Campbellians—first under Oreana and Garuda, then Empress Janera—Hyouma's leadership remains pivotal. He coordinates the team through crises including Chizuru's medical emergency and the Earth Bomb threat. After Janera's defeat and the subsequent Campbellian coup by Deus, Hyouma chooses to remain with Chizuru at the Nanbara Connection, forgoing a return to his orphanage while staying vigilant for future threats.
