Description
Dr. Nanbara established and directed the Nanbara Connection, the Battle Team's operational base, and engineered the super-electromagnetic robot Combattler V. He raised his granddaughter Chizuru Nanbara after her parents' absence, later recruiting her as one of Combattler V's pilots.
Foreseeing an invasion by the Campbell Empire, he obtained United Nations authorization to assemble the robot's pilots. This involved distributing special passes that permitted candidates to override regulations and requisition transportation for immediate deployment to the Nanbara Connection. He ultimately formed a team of five: Chizuru, Hyouma Aoi, Juzo Naniwa, Daisaku Nishikawa, and Kosuke Kita.
Dr. Nanbara perished early in the conflict. Before his death, he designated Professor Yotsuya as his successor to command the Nanbara Connection and sustain Earth's defense against the Campbellians. The facility and its technological contributions—including Combattler V and the Beehive Barrier defense system—continued safeguarding Earth after his demise.
