OVA
Description
Ryo Sanada descends from the historically significant Sanada ninja clan, though he never met his paternal relatives after his father rejected strict traditions to become a frequently absent wildlife photographer. Raised with a laissez-faire approach after his mother's death in infancy, Ryo grew up primarily isolated in a remote Yamanashi Prefecture mountain cabin, walking nine miles daily to school. This fostered a deep respect for nature and wildlife but limited early social interactions, resulting in discomfort in cities and social situations, plus indifference to fashion.

The white tiger White Blaze, companion to the Ancient One, selected Ryo as a Ronin Warrior, encountering him at ages four, seven, and ten before winter training under the Ancient. The Wildfire armor manifested one year before the Dynasty conflict when poachers trapped in their self-started forest fire threatened Ryo. Desiring to save all lives, including the poachers, the kanji "Jin" (benevolence/righteousness) appeared on his forehead, enabling him to absorb the flames and form the armor's undergear. This armor draws power from fire sources, particularly lava, wielding twin katanas (Swords of Wildfire) for his primary attack, "Sou En Zan" (Twin Flame Cut).

Ryo exhibits a cheerful, lively demeanor but is notably impatient and stubborn. He prioritizes others' safety above his own, often pushing himself to physical limits. His hobbies include soccer, mountain hikes, birdwatching, and the arcade game "Moguru Tataki," while disliking lukewarm baths, interviews, and flavored ice. His sincere resolve and embodiment of "Jin" established his leadership among the Ronin Warriors, inspiring unity and trust. This virtue also allows him to summon the Inferno Armor (Kikoutei), a white armor formed by channeling energies from four other Ronin or Warlord armors. The Inferno Armor wields the Swords of Fervor and executes the "Rage of Inferno" attack, possessing planetary-scale destructive potential. However, its use damaged his original swords and required purification from five virtues to maintain integrity. The armor was ultimately destroyed battling Mukala.

Six months after the Dynasty war in the Gaiden OVA, Ryo traveled to New York following reports of murders linked to Sage's corrupted Halo armor. After initially attempting a solo investigation, allies joined him. In Chinatown, he intervened when a girl named Runa attacked Rowen, mistakenly accusing him of her brother's murder. After Runa apologized, Ryo permitted her to join their mission despite safety concerns. When Shikaisen fatally wounded Runa during a trap, Ryo's grief and rage triggered the Inferno Armor's summoning, defeating Shikaisen. The OVA concludes with Ryo and his comrades scattering flowers in a river for Runa.

By the events of the Message OVA, Ryo relocated to Tokyo for high school. His Inferno Armor remained inactive post-destruction, though he retained the Wildfire Armor. White Blaze continued as his companion, occasionally adopting an armored form to wield the Soul Swords of Fervor in critical battles.
