OVA
Description
Shū Rei Fuan, also known as Kento Rei Fuan or Kento of Hardrock, hails from Yokohama's Chinatown. His prosperous Chinese immigrant parents run a successful restaurant chain; his mother, a martial arts master, trained him in Chinese kung fu from childhood. As the eldest of five siblings—Rinfi, Yun, Meiryu, and Chunfa—he was expected to yield to the younger ones, sometimes sneaking food, including spoiled milk. Protecting his siblings when they broke a family heirloom awakened his virtue of justice (Gi) through a mystical pearl glowing in his hands, forging his deep sense of responsibility and protectiveness.

He possesses dark blue or ash-purple hair and blue eyes. During the main series, he stands 164 cm (5'4.5") tall and weighs 62 kg (136 lbs), growing to 170 cm (5'6.9") by the "Message" OVA. His typical attire includes a golden headband, yellow t-shirt, light pants, and sneakers, though media variations show him in overalls and a hat ("Gaiden") or a wetsuit while surfing ("Legend of the Inferno Armor").

Kento exhibits a hot temper, stubbornness, and impulsiveness, often charging into fights without strategy, believing in brute strength. Despite his family's wealth, he shows no arrogance, instead displaying fierce loyalty, kindness, and a strong sense of justice. He frequently talks about food, enjoys arm wrestling, mountain climbing, judo, kung fu, rugby, and Tai Chi Gen, and dislikes konjac (devil's tongue) and edible bird's nest. His impulsiveness makes him vulnerable to manipulation, notably by the warlord Dais, who tricks him into attacking allies like Sage. Throughout the series, he gradually develops greater restraint while retaining his core eagerness for action.

He wields the earth-aligned Armor of Hardrock (Kongō), embodying the virtue of justice. Its primary weapon is the versatile three-section staff (Kongo Tsue), and its signature attack, Iron Rock Crusher (Gantessai), channels terrestrial energy to create seismic disruptions. Even without armor, he demonstrates exceptional physical strength, such as stopping speeding trucks. In the "Message" OVA, he acquires a new armor set with undefined specific abilities.

His narrative spans key conflicts. During the war against Talpa (Arago), Talpa's power immobilizes him on a snowy mountain; warlord Kale nearly kills him before Sage intervenes. His impulsiveness leads to critical errors, like injuring Sage under Dais' illusions, but he redeems himself by defeating Dais shortly after. Captured and drained of power by Talpa to forge a weapon, he enters a stone-like state until Rowen rescues him. In the final battle, Talpa absorbs him, but he is freed when Ryo summons the Inferno Armor.

In "Gaiden," he uses lottery winnings to host Ryo's birthday party. Later, he travels to New York with Ryo and Cye to investigate Sage's disappearance, perceptively interrupting his uncle's flirtation with Mia. When the possessed Halo armor attacks the city, he and Rowen engage it but are injured by its ultimate attack and military fire, forcing retreat. His suspicion of Runa, who accuses Rowen of murder, adds tension to the group.

He shares close bonds with his fellow warriors, particularly Cye Mori, with whom he rooms and surfs. He assumes leadership in battles, directing efforts to breach Dynasty gates and volunteering to distract Dais so Rowen can escape during the raid on Talpa's fortress. His development includes increased tactical awareness, though he remains the physically strongest and most direct combatant.
