OVA
Description
Mai Kurosawa is the childhood friend of protagonist Hideo Ozu, sharing a history with him spanning at least nine years. Throughout this period, Hideo extensively filmed her without explicit permission, compiling amateur footage as she pursued her dream of becoming an actress. After nearly a decade, she confronts Hideo, seizing all his archived videos of her and decisively ending their relationship, instructing him to permanently leave her life. This rejection devastates Hideo, plunging him into a depressive state marked by heavy drinking.
Following their separation, Mai Kurosawa advances her acting career. She announces plans to release a professional biography video, utilizing the very footage Hideo had secretly captured over the years. This professional move directly impacts Hideo. After encountering three cyberdolls resembling different age versions of Mai (named Mai, Ai, and Mie), he resolves to pursue his own filmmaking ambitions. He channels his lingering attachment and creative drive into directing projects featuring these cyberdolls as substitutes.
Her character functions primarily as the catalyst for Hideo's initial despair and his subsequent motivation involving the cyberdolls. Only the first episode of the planned three-episode OVA was distributed before the series' cancellation due to the bankruptcy of its distributor, Five Ways Co., Ltd. The completed but unreleased second and third episodes remain inaccessible.
