TV-Series
Description
Saago is one of three primary Enterran guardians tasked with protecting Yakumo, the last human, on her journey to Shinzo. Affiliated with water, he earns nicknames like "Water Boy" from foes and wields a sword, commanding water-based attacks such as summoning aqua dragons. A distinctive blue jewel embedded in his helmet marks him as a Chosen Enterran.

He typically wears a Roman-style helmet. His hair color shows inconsistencies—depicted as light brown with blond highlights in one instance and light bluish in another, attributed to differing timelines. After a power enhancement from King Nipper, he gains permanent dragon-like wings in both seasons, augmenting his Hyper Form.

Saago displays an early mischievous and occasionally reckless streak, gradually tempered by loyalty to Yakumo. He devises clever tactics during conflicts, like the plan to infiltrate Insect King Daku's castle by feigning surrender and igniting petrol as a diversion. His comedic side surfaces through interests like gambling, particularly highlighted in Season 2 where he becomes obsessed with card games, often losing until Binka intervenes.

Throughout Season 1, Saago's development emphasizes sacrifice and teamwork. He and Kutal repeatedly fuse with Mushra to form the legendary warrior Mushrambo, crucial for defeating threats like Reptile King Gyasa and avian general Rusephine. Against Gyasa, Saago makes a crucial sacrifice, allowing Mushra to absorb his EnCard and ascend to Mushrambo. Later, confronting the corrupted Satan Mushrambo, he and Kutal pin down the antagonist so Mushra can strike the final blow. Following this victory, Saago and the other guardians fade from existence.

Season 2 unfolds in an altered timeline where the Human-Enterran war never occurred. Saago initially lacks memories of Yakumo and Shinzo, dismissing Binka's approach with his jewel and tales of their past mission. He rediscovers his purpose when Binka is kidnapped; his rage triggers the jewel to re-embed into his helmet, restoring his Hyper Form and commitment. He participates in pivotal battles against Kadrian forces, including Eilis' amusement park illusion trap, and aids in confronting the freed entity Lanancuras.

In the manga adaptation, Saago's conclusion diverges; he survives the final battle and resides peacefully in a village where humans and Enterrans coexist, contrasting with his anime fate. Across all media, his character arc transitions from self-interest to selflessness, emphasizing loyalty and growth through collective struggle.
