Zans is a talking Pteranodon living on the planet Noah. He is the son of White Wing, a famous rebel leader who opposed the oppressive regime before his death. This heritage marks Zans as a target for Noah's ruling powers, especially the church and its priests, who pursue him due to his link to the rebellion.

Zans begins as timid and easily frightened, struggling with cowardice and reluctance to face danger. His closest bond among the transported human children is with Danmari, one of the younger group members. Danmari often carries Zans, reflecting their protective friendship.
