Description
Ojarumaru Sakanoue, known as Principe Mac Karoo, is a five-year-old prince from the Heian-era Fairy World, born into nobility a millennium ago. Bored by his sheltered life of privilege and constant studies, he sought excitement beyond his aristocratic confines. His circumstances changed dramatically when he encountered Great King Enma's scepter, accidentally lost by the Oni Child Trio. Seizing it, he inadvertently activated its power to open temporal portals, fleeing pursuit and finding himself transported to modern-day Japan. Stranded in Moonlight Town, he befriended eight-year-old Kazuma Tamura and began residing with the Tamura family.

His personality blends aristocratic whimsy with childlike curiosity. Spoiled, laid-back, and occasionally selfish, he speaks politely using archaic Heian-era dialects. He refers to himself as "Maro" and others as "Sochi," frequently ending sentences with phrases like "de ojaru," "nou," or "ja." He displays a strong aversion to exertion, water (resulting in an inability to swim), and his persistent fiancée Princess Okame, often exclaiming "Ojazozo" upon encountering her. Modern conveniences and foods fascinate him, particularly pudding, which became his trademark favorite after Kazuma's mother Ai introduced it. His iconic accessories include a fourth-dimensional eboshi hat for storing objects and the stolen scepter, central to his interactions with pursuers.

He travels between eras via the Moonlit Night Pond, maintaining ties to both timelines. In modern Japan, he navigates daily life with Kazuma’s family and engages with diverse residents of Moonlight Town, including aliens, anthropomorphic animals, and comic rivals like the impoverished komainu duo Okorinbō and Nikorinbō. His guardianship involves Denbo, a firefly messenger from his Heian-era home tasked with his care, though Ojarumaru often resists supervision. The Oni Child Trio—Aobee, Akane, and Kisuke—persistently pursue him to reclaim Enma’s scepter, employing comically ineffective schemes he routinely outmaneuvers. Despite occasional selfishness, his relationships evolve, particularly his brotherly bond with Kazuma, whom he accompanies everywhere, often riding on his back or backpack.

His narrative occasionally intersects with thematic parodies of folktales like Momotarō and Cinderella or pop culture phenomena such as Attack on Titan, though these remain episodic diversions. While later storylines expand focus onto supporting characters, his core traits—curiosity about modernity, avoidance of effort, and attachment to the scepter—persist unchanged.
