Description
Dome Shinjo, son of a deceased Yomiuri Giants legend, inherits his father's exceptional baseball talent and passion, pursuing the sport despite discouragement from his mother and sister. Before his father's death, he learns the unique "magical shot" or "snow mirage ball" pitching technique, later mastering it during Giants training. This mastery secures his immediate, youthful recruitment by the team.
Dome's pitching grants the Giants exclusive dominion in home games at the Tokyo Dome, where he alone is permitted to play. His signature pitch initially overwhelms the league, though this success falters in away games due to restrictions. His first major defeat comes when a veteran Dragons captain successfully hits the magical shot, prompting Dome to innovate and develop new pitches to maintain his edge.
Throughout his career, rivals and teammates shape Dome's growth. Key figures include Melody Norman, an American girl disguised as a boy to play baseball, and Don Carlos, a former bullfighter turned Hiroshima Toyo Carp player who held a past rivalry with Dome's father. Touma Kurenai, Paula Dodo, and a boy named Kenji also significantly influence him; Kenji's friendship specifically aids Dome in refining his pitching technique. These interactions and challenges forge his evolution as a player, emphasizing adaptability and perseverance beyond his inherited abilities.
