Description
Abandoned shortly after birth, Sokkyū Gō grew up in an orphanage where he developed psychic abilities. These powers led him to the Northern Ostendel division of Time Lease. Publicly a maintenance worker, he secretly tested the Psychic Robot program under Kozou Higeno. Outside work, he volunteered at his childhood orphanage and spent time with colleagues Ran, Harubou, and 2-3. Sokkyū Gō is characterized by kindness, compassion, and altruism, though he remains oblivious to romantic advances, particularly from Ran, despite others noticing her feelings.
Initially, Sokkyū Gō transformed into Ippatsuman by psychically controlling a robotic body from an undersea lab beneath Time Lease headquarters, experiencing pain through this connection. As Ippatsuman, he could fly, resisted basic weapons, and wielded Rainballs—high-speed baseball projectiles capable of penetrating tough materials. When overwhelmed by giant mechas from the Clean Aku Trio (Skull Lease's executives), he combined the Dangan Head Unit spacecraft and Tokkyu-Saurus into the Gyakuten-Oh mecha to defeat adversaries before disappearing.
A critical turning point occurred when Tamashiro, president of Skull Lease's Western branch, witnessed Sokkyū Gō’s psychic abilities and collaborated with the Clean Aku Trio to set a trap. Tamashiro fired diamond-tipped bullets that destroyed the Psychic Robot body and critically injured Sokkyū Gō. After recovering, he revealed his identity as Ippatsuman to Time Lease colleagues, who protected his secret. His dynamic shifted when Haruka, a new managing director with her own psychic powers, assisted his transformation after the robot's destruction. He adopted an enhanced suit derived from Psychic Robot data and piloted the Sankan-Oh—a mecha formed from the Dangan Booster Unit and Tokkyu-Mammoth. This upgrade resisted Tamashiro’s bullets but increased personal risk: Sokkyū Gō now fought directly, and disruptions to his psychic link with Haruka caused severe pain or potential fatality.
Subsequent conflicts involved Skull Lease agents Tamashiro and Spy 000 targeting Sokkyū Gō and Haruka under chairwoman Con Cordo’s orders. This led to Ran’s capture and torture, assassination attempts on Haruka, and repeated traps for Sokkyū Gō requiring rescues by friends. As part of a ruse to complete the Psychic Robot program, he feigned leaving Time Lease and marrying Haruka. Haruka was later revealed as an unwilling double agent for Con Cordo—an alien who stole the psychic data. In the final confrontation, Haruka, wearing her own enhanced suit, overpowered Ippatsuman until Sokkyū Gō’s friends freed her from Con Cordo’s control. They destroyed Con Cordo using Sankan-Oh.
After Haruka’s disappearance and Higeno’s resignation, Sokkyū Gō became Time Lease’s Technical Director, overseeing repairs to the Tokkyu-Saurus. Beyond the series, Ippatsuman appeared in crossover media like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, utilizing Rainballs and Gyakuten-Oh in combat. Inspired by fighters relying on raw power, he trained to enhance his abilities without the suit, questioning dependence on powered equipment.
