TV-Series
Description
Tonzura Sutakora (also spelled Tonzra or Tonzler) is the brawny member of the Doronbo Gang. A former professional wrestler, he joined the gang seeking wealth from the Skull Stone to finance his wrestling comeback. He handles heavy lifting and basic mecha operations, though he often flees threats despite his strength. He speaks with a distinctive Kansai dialect, marking his thuggish persona.
Physically, Tonzura is short, squat, and muscular, featuring a pronounced overbite and facial stubble. His standard attire is a purple uniform that frequently exposes his midsection, with colorful underwear often comically revealed during fights. His character design remains consistent across media, though his prominence varies. In the original series and its 2008 remake, he is the least proactive member, typically following Doronjo and Boyacky's orders with unwavering loyalty, nicknaming Boyacky "Boyayan".
After the Doronbo Gang disbands in the original timeline, Tonzura turns to managing wrestling and leads the "WHH" organization. He initially claims bachelorhood but later references having an adult daughter, suggesting evolving backstory elements. Reunions with the gang occur in spin-offs like *Time Bokan: Royal Revival*, where they compete against other villain trios and face familiar defeats; Tonzura relishes these reunions for camaraderie.
The 2009 live-action film amplifies his eccentric traits: he specializes in explosives, exhibits odd behaviors like pelvic thrusting, and has a weak stomach. His friendship with Boyacky is more pronounced, reacting with aggression to Boyacky's distress. Tonzura participates in the final confrontation against Dokurobei but ultimately parts ways with the gang after helping thwart him.
In *Yatterman Night*, Tonzura's legacy continues through his descendant, Elephantus. Elephantus adopts Tonzura's alias and joins Leopard (Doronjo's descendant) in rebelling against the oppressive Yatter Kingdom, which vilified his gang. This spin-off reframes Tonzura's historical role, portraying his lineage as victims of societal injustice.
