Description
Bernard, a spirited nine-year-old orphan adopted as an infant by the de la Vega family, is cherished as a son by Don Alejandro and a younger brother by Diego de la Vega. Slender with fair skin, mahogany brown hair, and distinctive teal eyes, he typically wears a golden cream long-sleeved shirt and brown pants. His personality radiates liveliness, quick wit, and cheerfulness. Discovering Diego’s secret identity as Zorro early on, Bernard embraces his own vigilante alter ego, "Little Zorro." For these missions, he dons a modified costume: a white long-sleeved shirt, blue vest, black cape, mask, hat, and black leather boots reaching high on his legs.
His journey sees him evolve from a family mascot into an active partner in Zorro’s fight against tyranny. Bernard aids Diego by gathering intelligence through eavesdropping, engaging directly in combat, and independently thwarting villains using resourceful, unorthodox methods while disguised. Beyond vigilantism, he contributes to farm work and playfully intervenes in Diego’s romantic life, acting as "Cupid" for Diego and Lolita Prideaux. His interactions feature a comedic dynamic with Maria, the household’s boisterous housemaid.
Bernard maintains friendships with peers Nikita (his love interest), Manuel, Sergio, and Leona. His trusted bulldog, Figaro, frequently accompanies him on adventures. As Diego’s steadfast ally and surrogate brother, Bernard grows consistently from an observant child into a courageous partner in justice.
