Description
Captain James Hook first arrived in Neverland as a child named James, alongside Peter Pan, becoming one of the earliest Lost Boys. He eventually left longing for his mother, an act that led Peter Pan to reject and banish him. Lost at sea, pirates rescued him, led by Mr. Smee, who raised him. James rose to captain their crew.

Returning to Neverland as an adult, he found Peter unwilling to accept his grown state, transforming their friendship into bitter rivalry. A pivotal confrontation saw Peter Pan sever James's right hand and feed it to a massive saltwater crocodile. James replaced the hand with an iron hook, earning the name "Captain Hook." The crocodile, having tasted him and swallowed a clock whose ticking warned of its approach, pursued him relentlessly.

Hook commands the pirate brig *Jolly Roger*, enforcing strict rules against children in Neverland and obsessively seeking vengeance against Peter Pan. He views himself as wronged, justifying his actions through Peter's initial rejection and his own trauma. Despite his vengeful pursuits, he maintains a complex, near-fatherly bond with Mr. Smee, his rescuer, confidant, and first mate.

Educated at England's Eton College, he possesses a refined yet menacing demeanor. Elegant and articulate even while threatening violence, he dresses in flamboyant pirate attire, typically a red coat and large crimson hat adorned with a lavender feather, blending traditional piracy with aristocratic refinement.

Hook reveals deeper layers of emptiness and unresolved pain. After seeming victory over Peter Pan in a duel, he feels unfulfilled, confessing to Wendy Darling his original longing for his mother and subsequent pirate life. His motivations extend beyond simple villainy, reflecting a man shaped by abandonment and desire for belonging.

In their final confrontation, Peter Pan apologizes for their fractured past. Though initially resistant, Hook survives the battle, falling into the ocean and losing his hook. Adrift later with Smee, he witnesses Peter's return to Neverland. In that moment, he offers a civil smile, hinting at a possible, albeit unresolved, cessation of hostilities.
