Description
Based on L. Frank Baum's universe, Blinkie appears in the anime adaptation *Shōnen Santa no Daibōken* as a reindeer companion to the protagonist Claus. Blinkie joins Claus on adventures interacting with human communities. A key episode involves Claus refusing a wealthy child's attempt to purchase Blinkie, demonstrating their strong bond and Claus's compassion.

Within Burzee Forest, Blinkie exists alongside established Baum characters like Ak, Zurline, Necile, Shiegra, Peter Knook, Flossie, and Glossie, plus new animal characters such as an owl, bear, leopard, squirrels, and rabbits. Blinkie is highlighted as a significant presence in this expanded cast.

Blinkie accompanies Claus when he relocates from Burzee to establish a home closer to humans. There, the reindeer forms a connection with a young girl named May, a regular visitor to Claus's new home, facilitating storylines exploring relationships between humans, Claus, and his animal companions.

As one of Burzee's inhabitants possessing the ability to fly—unlike the earthbound Claus—Blinkie contributes to depicting this trait. The anime adaptation diverges from Baum's original rules, allowing animals to communicate and making immortals visible to humans. These changes enable Blinkie's direct interactions across species and realms.

Blinkie remains integrated into Claus's activities throughout the series, consistently appearing in scenarios emphasizing friendship, guardianship, and bridging the natural and human worlds.
