Yamanba dwells in an isolated mountain area, precisely nine peaks distant from Taro's earlier confrontation with a giant serpent. Her pivotal role emerges when she informs Taro of his mother's transformation into a dragon residing within a lake, guiding him toward that destination. During their exchange, she unintentionally exposes her own responsibility for unleashing or controlling the very serpent Taro encountered near the old woman's rice field. This revelation cements her ties to the supernatural realm, framing her as an influential entity over mystical creatures inhabiting the land. After disclosing the critical information, Taro makes a narrow escape from her vicinity.
