King Aleph, the kind and just ruler of the Underworld, maintained order over his domain until a power struggle arose with his brother-in-law, Guwaru the Ziarc. As the human boy Hat entered the Underworld, Guwaru moved to seize the throne, successfully banishing the king and fracturing the island of Usontō into seven separate pieces.

The father of the canine prince Hoto-ken, King Aleph saw his banishment create a power vacuum that Guwaru swiftly exploited. This conflict tied directly to the legend of the original hero Magical Hat, who had sealed the Underworld away 63,000 years earlier. The quest to defeat Guwaru, reunify the shattered islands, and restore King Aleph became the primary objective for the story's protagonists.

After his banishment, King Aleph's whereabouts remained unknown, deepening the instability throughout the Underworld. The eventual victory of Hat and his companions over Guwaru led to King Aleph's restoration as sovereign ruler, concluding his narrative arc of usurpation and exile.
