Description
Shaun and John form a bonded pair. Shaun, a Living Doll, acts as the "face" for John, a Shadow. Both originated from Mirrorside Village. John attended school with Patrick, Louise, and Shirley, recognized as the top student, and frequently clashed with Patrick. Shaun, originally named John, was the eldest of three siblings and head of his class. The day before the selection process, John noticed Shirley dropped her circus ticket. He returned it, convincing her to attend despite her fears. John, Patrick, Louise, and Shirley then went to the circus, encountering an orphaned girl. Together, they helped her enter the selection using the fake name "Kate". Inspired by Patrick's comment about outer appearances, Shaun styled her hair like his younger sister. This interaction also prompted John to hide his poor eyesight to appear more capable. After selection, both were brainwashed via coffee and brought into the Shadows House, where a morph approached John.
