Description
Majo Rika, also called Bruja Rika in Spanish-language adaptations, anchors the *Ojamajo Doremi* franchise. Originally the owner of Maho-dou magic shop, her secret witch identity is unintentionally revealed by Doremi Harukaze. This event activates an ancient curse, turning Rika into a witch frog and forcing her to make Doremi her apprentice to break the spell. Over time, Hazuki Fujiwara, Aiko Senoo, Onpu Segawa, Pop Harukaze, and Momoko Asuka also become her apprentices through different events.

Her journey shifts dramatically. In the second season (*Ojamajo Doremi Sharp*), after resolving her initial curse, Rika departs for the Witch World. Her absence leads Doremi and the others to witness the birth of Hana, a magical baby and future Witch Queen candidate. Bound by Witch World law requiring witnesses to care for such an infant, Rika facilitates the girls' return as witch apprentices to raise Hana, cementing her ongoing link to their duties and Hana's magical upbringing.

Rika evolves from a figure focused solely on lifting her curse to a mentor dedicated to her apprentices' growth. Early friction, including confrontations over her perceived selfishness, gives way to deeper commitment. Her involvement in critical events—mediating conflicts between the Witch and Wizard Worlds in *Sharp* and supporting the girls through Hana's health crises—illustrates this change. By the final season (*Ojamajo Doremi Dokkān!*), she acts as a custodian of Witch World traditions, personally returning Hana after the protagonists relinquish their magic permanently.

Her background remains consistent across extended media. The OVA *Ojamajo Doremi Na-i-sho!* (set during *Motto! Ojamajo Doremi*) explores other characters without expanding Rika's lore, and the 2019 net animation *Ojamajo Doremi: Owarai Gekijō* features comedic chibi segments but adds no new canonical details about her history or development.
