TV-Series
Description
Mariposa, originally named Thief George, shares a birth date and hospital with Kinnikuman and the other Four Fated Princes. A fire during their infancy created confusion over the true heir to Planet Kinniku's throne. His family relocated to Mexico and then to Planet Moctezuma, a world with a thin atmosphere requiring oxygen masks. This environment honed his exceptional jumping ability and resilience. Poverty drove him to steal from wealthy families for survival. During this time, he stole the Anoalo Staff, a heirloom of the Robin Clan, gaining fire manipulation abilities.
He endured significant personal tragedy: his father died in a mining accident and his mother fell ill. Forced to support his younger brother John, he joined a band of robbers in Mexico. After his mother's death, he and John fled to Planet Moctezuma, becoming notorious thieves. Greco, a wealthy victim of their robberies, later killed John, prompting George to seek vengeance. The God of Flight appeared, offering him the chance to become King of Planet Kinniku and transforming him into Kinnikuman Mariposa.
Chosen by the God of Flight as one of the Five Fated Princes, Mariposa competed in the Survivor Match for the Kinniku Throne. He formed Team Mariposa with Hawkman, King the 100-Ton, Mixer Taitei, and Mister VTR. At Kumamoto Castle, he battled Robin Mask. Using the stolen Anoalo Staff, he employed fire-based techniques such as the Moctezuma Defense and a counterfeit "Muscle Revenger." Their fight exposed his theft of the staff during Robin Mask's childhood. Despite initial dominance, Robin Mask reclaimed the staff and defeated him with the Robin Special. Mariposa's loss revealed his fraudulent claim to the throne; the God of Flight abandoned him, reverting him to George.
Years later, facing Omega Centauri's Six Spears, the God of Flight restored Mariposa's powers. Alongside the other Fated Princes, he reclaimed his mask from the National Chojin Museum and confronted the Six Spears in Barcelona. Assigned to fight Hailman at Bran Castle in Romania, he demonstrated evolved abilities, generating fire without the Anoalo Staff by creating friction against the ring ropes. After a brutal exchange featuring techniques like the Fire Torch Rocket, he defeated Hailman using the Aztec Cemetery.
Mariposa's personality, shaped by his harsh upbringing, is cunning and pragmatic; he commits ruthless acts for personal gain. Yet he retains a core sense of justice, aiding those in need when it aligns with his goals. His fighting style blends high-flying lucha libre with fire manipulation. Key techniques include the Senton Quebradora (a rope-assisted leg drop), Iron Post Binding (impaling opponents on ring posts), and Aztec Drop (a flaming aerial strike). After losing the Anoalo Staff, he adapted by igniting flames through physical friction, maintaining his signature Moctezuma Defense.
His appearance features a luchador mask and attire, typically blue and white (later black and purple in adaptations), with a darker skin tone distinguishing him from other characters. Across his appearances, his narrative arc shifts from antagonist to reluctant ally, emphasizing themes of redemption and resilience forged through adversity.
