Description
Odile, the daughter of the evil sorcerer Rothbart, serves as a loyal accomplice in his schemes. Residing with him in his castle, she is privy to his plans from the outset and willingly follows in his footsteps.

She enters the story by informing Rothbart of Prince Siegfried’s encounter with Princess Odette. Actively participating in her father’s deception, she is magically disguised to resemble Odette so perfectly that Siegfried is completely fooled, even when she reveals her true name.

At the royal ball, Odile—disguised as Odette and clad in black—dances with the prince. She successfully tricks him into pledging his love and announcing his intent to marry her, thereby dooming the real Odette to remain cursed.

Once the deception is revealed, Odile demands that her father kill Siegfried after the prince rejects his pledge. Following a prolonged battle between Rothbart and Siegfried, Odile is destroyed alongside her father by a flash of light created when the prince plunges a sword into his own heart. She disintegrates completely, leaving no remains.

Odile exhibits a snarky and cunning personality, marked by vanity and a tendency toward sarcasm, even cautioning her father about his blood pressure in moments of rage. She displays ruthlessness, suggesting at one point that Rothbart kill Odette for her continued rejection—and offering to carry out the deed herself.

She shares a strong father-daughter bond with Rothbart, and both hold unhealthy attitudes toward romance. As wicked as her father, she acts as his hyper-competent sidekick throughout much of the story.

Physically, Odile is very thin, contrasting with her plumper father. She consistently wears entirely black attire. Like Rothbart, she transforms into an owl-like bird, a departure from the ballet’s black swan depiction.
