Description
Professor Otoi designed Signal, a cutting-edge Human Form Robot (HFR), to act as an older brother figure for his grandson, Nobuhiko. However, Nobuhiko accidentally sneezed during Signal's programming, introducing a critical glitch. This malfunction causes Signal to instantly transform into a diminutive, childlike version dubbed "Chibi Signal" or "Mini Signal" whenever Nobuhiko sneezes; a subsequent sneeze reverts the change. In this smaller form, Signal exhibits hyperactive behavior, an intense obsession with chocolate, and speaks in a high-pitched, broken manner. Despite this flaw, his core identity persists across both states.
As the newest HFR equipped with advanced MIRA and SIRIUS technology, Signal possesses significant combat capabilities intended for defense, making him a target for entities, especially Dr. Otoi's rivals, seeking to exploit his systems. His primary antagonist is Pulse, a weaponized prototype model created before Signal and reprogrammed to destroy him. Pulse displays reluctant aggression due to their shared origins but exhibits unexpected protectiveness towards Chibi Signal. Their dynamic fluctuates between adversarial conflict and underlying kinship, often resulting in physical confrontations amplified by Pulse's nearsightedness and Signal's glitch-induced evasiveness.
Signal's relationships extend beyond his family. He develops romantic feelings for Elara, a household robot programmed for domestic tasks, though she remains unaware. He also interacts with specialized robots like Code, who can merge with Signal to augment his combat abilities using shared MIRA technology. Initially temperamental and self-centered, Signal evolves into a genuinely protective guardian for Nobuhiko. This growth is evident during crises, where he strategically leverages his transformation glitch to evade threats or de-escalate conflicts, demonstrating increasing loyalty and self-sacrifice. His existence within the Otoi household reflects a broader theme of coexistence, where humans, animals, and robots maintain harmony despite external provocations aimed at disrupting their stability.
