Pioran, an elderly woman from Takunaha, was imprisoned in Yanome for allegedly poisoning ten soldiers, though the exact reasons were unconfirmed. She first appeared assisting Parona and March in a prison escape, deliberately distracting guards as part of their plan. After fleeing Yanome, she encountered Fushi in a forest and immediately recognized his non-human nature when he shifted from March's form to the Boy's form. Despite Fushi's initial reluctance, she followed him and subsequently taught him human language, writing, and essential survival skills during their travels.
She guided Fushi to her homeland, Takunaha, where they settled with her lover, Booze Man, and his apprentice Gugu. While Fushi bonded with Gugu, Pioran recorded information about the Nokkers. Following Gugu's death, Fushi departed to protect Pioran and Booze Man, but she later reunited with him. They attempted to reach Sarlnine Forest but were diverted to Jananda Island, where Pioran was imprisoned again. Fushi located her cell, vowed to rescue her, communicated through her window, and promised freedom after winning a battle. Though she urged him to abandon her for safety, he refused. After the rescue, she waited at the Zedan port as planned but was tranquilized by Hayase.
Aging significantly weakened Pioran physically and mentally, causing memory lapses, paranoia, and irritability. Nearing death at age 90, she summoned the Beholder and wished to be reborn as something useful to Fushi. Her soul was reincarnated as a white horse, implied to aid Fushi in his future journeys.
Personality-wise, Pioran displayed abrasiveness, irritability, and resourcefulness, often wielding her cane for self-defense. She intensely valued life, prioritizing survival and practical solutions, such as suggesting Fushi use his immortality to forage for food. Her bond with Fushi deepened into a familial relationship, with her considering him a grandson. Her skills included expert fishing and instructing Fushi in cooking, cleaning, and fieldwork.
