Description
Junko, called Selena in Spanish dubs, is the granddaughter of Dr. Kieta and the main female protagonist of the original *Time Bokan* series. This ten-year-old girl wears a distinctive outfit: a pink helmet, a heart-decorated vest, and a jumpsuit with bell-bottoms. Her grandfather vanished during a test run of his Time Bokan invention, driving her to endure dangers across history to find him.

Gentle, kind, and compassionate, Junko often shows greater reasoning than her impulsive companion, Tanpei. Her innocence and empathy are potent; her mere presence once caused an AI-equipped walrus mecha to self-destruct rather than harm her. Though generally calm, she startles easily in peril, frequently screaming when piloting mechas under attack.

Junko feels Dr. Kieta's absence more deeply than others in the search party. While side materials mention other family, her grandfather remains the sole figure commanding her profound concern, fearing to lose him again after reunion. She shares a mutual, unspoken romantic interest with Tanpei, which neither acknowledges.

Less action-focused than later franchise heroines, Junko demonstrates resilience when needed. She occasionally pilots mechas for battle and has rescued the captured Tanpei multiple times. Her character shows subtle growth, influenced by Tanpei, as she vows to overcome initial timidity and become stronger.

Within the franchise, Junko briefly appears alongside Tanpei in the *Time Bokan: Royal Revival* OVA audience. Side materials, like an *Otasukeman* movie LP drama, later reveal their adult engagement. Her original role is foundational, inspiring subsequent protagonists like *Yatterman*'s Ai-chan toward active combat.

Junko interacts with supporting characters like the parrot Parrosuke. Their relationship was initially strained, though her plight ultimately helped him appreciate the crew.
