Description
Dr. Snoozeabit serves as the village doctor in Foothill Forest, overseeing medical care for its tiny forest dwellers. He raised his niece, Lillibit, from infancy following the presumed death of her parents, informing her they died shortly after her birth. Balancing his medical duties with guardianship proved challenging due to his personal struggles.

His characterization prominently features a habitual reliance on alcohol in the original Japanese version, necessitating Lillibit's constant vigilance to monitor his behavior and keep him focused. For the English adaptation, this trait was reinterpreted as chronic sleepiness, resulting in his name "Snoozeabit" and the replacement of alcohol with "dandelion juice" in dialogue and visuals. Despite these issues, he maintained professional competence as a physician, earning the admiration of Chip, a village child who aspired to become a doctor.

Dr. Snoozeabit's backstory includes finding the baby flying squirrel Snuffly beside its deceased mother, an event recalled during a village crisis. The series' conclusion revealed his initial account of Lillibit's parents was incomplete. When her parents, revealed as alive and members of the exiled "Wanderbit" group, returned, his role in concealing their existence was exposed. After their community acceptance and Lillibit's family reunion, he participated in the village-wide rebuilding effort following a catastrophic earthquake that destroyed Foothill Forest.

His interpersonal dynamics encompassed mentorship of Chip, a dependent yet occasionally strained relationship with Lillibit stemming from his habits, and integration within the village elder network alongside figures like Mayor Bossabit and Elderbit.
