Description
Le Créateur is the enigmatic entity responsible for summoning the white orb that eventually becomes Fushi, the immortal protagonist of To Your Eternity. Known in the original Japanese as the Beholder, he appears as a hooded, shadowy figure who silently observes Fushi’s journey from a distance. His background is deeply tied to the origin of the world itself: he created the world out of boredom, longing to eventually die within it. His personality is initially distant, patient, and almost clinical, offering only occasional cryptic guidance to Fushi. Over time, his motivations become clearer—he yearns for an end to his own existence and wishes to entrust the continuation of the world to someone else. His primary role in the story is that of a creator and passive narrator, but he also intervenes at key moments by offering information about the Nokkers, Fushi’s parasitic enemies, and by granting Fushi the ability to reconnect to parts of himself across vast distances. Key relationships include his bond with Fushi, whom he created and watches like a parent observing a child’s growth, and a rare moment of empathy with the elderly Pioran, who asks him to reincarnate as a useful creature after her death—he grants her wish, turning her into a horse. Later in the story, Le Créateur undergoes significant development: he is reborn into a human body named Satoru in the modern era, interacts more directly with Fushi, and offers him omnipotence. When Fushi refuses, Le Créateur erases his own memories and disappears, leaving Fushi as the eternal guardian of the world. Notable abilities include the creation of life, the power to observe across time and space, the capacity to reincarnate into physical forms, and the authority to bestow abilities upon Fushi. Despite his godlike nature, he is ultimately a lonely being seeking release, making him a complex figure whose actions set the entire narrative into motion.
