Description
Drache Boris stands central to the narrative, first encountered as a dragon imprisoned on a mystical island. His physical design defies tradition with distinctive blue-and-yellow stripes, suggesting vulnerability over typical draconic might.

He suffers captivity under the island's gorilla leader, exploited in desperate attempts to halt the island's sinking, cementing his initial helplessness and isolation. Key limitations include a broken wing grounding him, coupled with paralyzing fears of both water and fire—elements intrinsic to dragon lore.

Boris hails from a lineage historically tasked with safeguarding the island. He bears the crushing expectation of becoming an "After Dragon," a mature protector, yet feels inadequate due to perceived failures and lost ancestral wisdom. Internal pressures stem from comparisons to accomplished family, especially his father, whose crucial instructions he failed to retain.

His development ignites through friendship with a human boy. Their bond begins with mutual need: the boy seeks solutions to personal struggles, Boris requires liberation. This connection deepens to address Boris's emotional burdens—external pressures and self-doubt. The boy's support empowers him to confront fears, particularly during critical fire-related trials.

A pivotal moment occurs when Boris and the boy seek guidance from an ancient tortoise, only to find its bleached bones. This forces Boris to acknowledge the absence of destined mentors or easy answers, intensifying his conflict over self-reliance.

His transformation crystallizes during the island's climactic crisis. Choosing to face his terror, he engages directly with the island's molten heart. This act sparks an internal metamorphosis—confidence blossoms, allowing him to fulfill his guardian role through self-acceptance, not inherited knowledge. His physical form remains unchanged, but his newfound conviction manifests as he instructs fellow island inhabitants in sustainable protection, signifying his completed maturity as protector.
