TV-Series
Description
Meta Knight leads the enigmatic Meta-Knights in King Dedede's court, presenting a facade of loyalty to the king while secretly protecting Dream Land from Night Mare Enterprises' monsters. He possesses a spherical body similar to Kirby's round form and stubby limbs, but features longer arms with distinct digits. He constantly wears a silver mask, a blue Dimensional Cape with gold trimmings, metallic boots, and grey pauldrons with yellow lining. This cape lacks wings, preventing independent flight without aid. He carries Galaxia, a sacred golden sword with a ruby-embedded hilt, though he rarely uses it directly in combat.

His personality reflects calmness, collectiveness, and strategic wisdom, honed as a veteran Star Warrior who survived the galactic war against Night Mare Enterprises. He operates cautiously with a survivalist mindset, often observing passively and intervening only when essential. Subtle eye color shifts convey his emotions: blue for calmness or happiness, green for thoughtfulness, red for anger, pink for amusement, orange for confusion, and white during seriousness, shock, or deep concern for others' safety. Despite his stoic exterior, he cares deeply for those under his protection.

Originally a world traveler, he settled on Planet Popstar, deeming it "accepting." Appointed head of King Dedede's royal guards, he grew disillusioned with the king's incompetence, leading the guards to shift their loyalty to him and reform as the Meta-Knights. He knows of an ancient prophecy foretelling a Star Warrior destined to improve Dream Land, though Kirby arrived 200 years early. Consequently, Meta Knight views Kirby as a child needing guidance and a companion, later identified as Poppy Bros. Jr. He adopts Kirby after the latter's biological father is killed by Night Mare Enterprises, cementing his guardian role.

His relationships center on duty and mentorship. He acts as Kirby's distant guardian, intervening mainly in crises and providing indirect, often perilous training to strengthen him. He delegates Kirby's daily care to Tiff, becoming her mentor as she trains to be a knight. His formal apprentices, Sword Knight and Blade Knight, were former roadside bandits who dedicated themselves to him after a pivotal encounter. He maintains a facade of servitude toward King Dedede, exploiting the king's perception of his incompetence to operate freely and shield Dream Land.

Throughout the series, he supplies exposition on Kirby's abilities, especially identifying Copy Abilities during battles. He adopts an intentionally aloof approach, letting Kirby and allies learn through experience, stepping in only against overwhelming danger. A recurring tactic involves tossing torches to grant Kirby the Fire ability or using them offensively against monsters. In the climax, he shifts to active leadership, unveiling a secretly constructed battleship to launch a decisive assault on eNeMeE's fortress. This unites Kirby, his friends, villagers, and former Galaxy Soldier Army comrades, culminating in eNeMeE's defeat.

Production materials note Meta Knight was initially conceived as taller in storyboards, with a defined head and torso. The finalized version retained his signature masked game appearance, with his resemblance to Kirby never addressed within the anime.
