Description
Catie, also called Cateau, is a talking cat companion from the Flower Star. Dispatched to Earth alongside Nouveau, a talking dog, by their king, their mission was to find a worthy individual to locate the magical Flower of Seven Colors, essential for crowning a new ruler. They recruited Lunlun Flower, a fifteen-year-old French girl with ancestral ties to the Flower Star people, on her birthday. Cateau accompanied Lunlun and Nouveau on their extensive travels across Europe and parts of Northern Africa searching for the elusive bloom.
Acting as a guide and source of magical knowledge, Cateau explained the function of the Flower Key, a transformative magical pin Lunlun received from the king. Reflecting flowers in its mirror allowed Lunlun to change into situation-appropriate outfits, granting skills like mountain climbing or piloting an aircraft. After the original Flower Key was destroyed by antagonist Togenishia's Dark Wind attack, Cateau continued supporting Lunlun, who received a replacement royal crest-shaped pin carrying a grave warning: its loss or breakage would end Lunlun's life on Earth and prevent her return.
Throughout the journey, Cateau remained a constant companion, often aiding Lunlun in helping people they met and participating in efforts to thwart the schemes of pursuers Togenishia and her servant Yabouki, who sought the flower for their ambitions. She witnessed the growing bond between Lunlun and Serge, the mysterious photographer later revealed as the Flower Star's prince, and was present when the magical flower was unexpectedly found growing in Lunlun's grandparents' garden on Earth.
Cateau appears across all official media: the original 50-episode television series, the theatrical short film *Hello Cherry Country*, and subsequent international adaptations and compilations like the edited English-dubbed versions by ZIV International and Harmony Gold (where her name was localized as Cathy, Kati, or Katie). She is also present in the William Winckler Productions English-dubbed movie versions titled *Lun Lun the Flower Girl* and its sequel, and features in the announced Chinese-Japanese sequel/remake produced by Tencent Video and Toei Animation's Shanghai branch.
